The Differences Between State-Owned and Private Companies in China
Many of the things that are supposed to make SOEs different from private companies are shared by both, writes Milhopt. Even figuring out what legally is an SOE and what's technically still a private firm gets very weirdvery fast. Because of laws about foreign ownership of companies operating in China, many state-owned enterprises actually joint partnerships between SOEs and foreign corporations.
