Getting the Right Tool for the Job

A common critique of HCI as a field is that you'll get what you measure kind of. So if you focus on making things that are measurable, there's a bunch of research that you just won't do because you can't really measure it. And I think this following feelings at some level is kind of correct or like leads to very interesting places in academia. It doesn't feel right to sit down and open up a graphics program and try to make a perfect version of that room before measuring it.
