The Mainstay of Management
The mainstay of treatment early in the disease course is to mitigate pain, relieve pain so that the patient is more comfortable. Oral anti-inflammatories are very effective. There is some evidence that steroid dose packs may be beneficial in decreasing pain. Neither of these medication therapies has any effect in the overall disease course in terms of timing or restoration of full range of motion.
