Is M2 Money Supply the Overriding Force in Deflation?
If you insist that increases in money supply constitute inflation, then you must also insist that we are in a period of deflation right now. No, that is wrong, Mitch. Because only if you consider M2 money supply, yes. But the powers that be can kick the can down the road by doing what I call balance sheet magic and curing those insolvent balance sheets through bailouts. Just curing the balance sheet does not make people feel better about their situation. They actually look at that and be like, Oh my God, you needed a bailout. We're not doing business with you."
