The Challenge Process and the Occasional War
I accept the fact that there were challenges. This is fairly well documented. Whether it's been overly romanticized, it's hard to tell,. I don't recall him ever noting that he'd seriously maimed somebody as a result of that challenge process. You'd have one challenge match a year and that was enough to keep you honest. But I'm talking just to get back to the sparring or the high resistance training. How did they get to that level in the first place? Do you, or are you arguing that in essence, the challenge process and the occasional war was like a really high intensity, very infrequent full resistance training?"
