In the early twentieth century, immigrants were coming into the united states through alice island. In 19 14, after they adopted these new tests, imigration officials excluded one thousand and 77 people out of about 800000. So proportionately a percentage of the whole they were turning away four times as many people. This false sense of scientific reliability allowed people to do something inhumane and horrible to more people because they felt like they were being objective.
