Frida Ghitis: Francis is the patron saint of aecology to day, within or without the church. She says he was well known for his love of animals and compassion toward them. He's constantly talking to animals and preaching to them, she says. In some ways, all these eographers are portraying it as francis teaching and instructing,. you know, the birds or other animals.
