Investing in the Futures Market

People will buy hedges for an event. People think about buying a put option as a hedge to downside market risk that hedge is actually an expression of a trade. Just because you're not putting on a short when you buy a put, doesn't mean the person whom you bought the put from isn't going to actually put that short on for you to hedge out their risk. And so it's a long way of saying like, what would happen this week doesn't necessarily mean the market can't go down next week. It might just be, hay, a bunch of institutions had a hedge on ecause this market's crazy and things ended up playing out a little more devilishly than expected
