US policy makers have a particular model of how to contain China. They say it's its technology that is driving China's economic growth, and its military sort of catch up. And then the second element is China doesn't really know how to make and innovate new technology,. So those are sort of their two premises of how do they need to containment China? It's unclear to me if this is a way of succeeding, and obviously it has massive risks of backlash to us.
Featuring Daniela Gabor, Ted Fertik, and Tim Sahay on Bidenomics. We define and debate the new American industrial policy, the energy transition, the New Cold War with China—and more.
