The Role of Tribalism in Nation Building

A successful country is one that capitalizes on a feature of our psychology, which is that we do have tribalism. What counts as a tribe is pretty elastic, it is not by skin color, we form coalitions that cut across skin color. A lot of this depends on undermining certain features of human nature, such as in solidarity. In cultures that have a lot of cousin marriage, where you're related to people in your clan, it's rather hard to do nation building there.
