Love, Pain, Grief, and Joy: Vol. 4, A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis

The Insufficiency of Language and Idolatry
Lewis says a conoclastic God is iconoclastic. He essentially illustrates this with two powerful analogies. The idea of the insufficiency of language, you cannot capture in language an explanation for what God is doing or you can't fully capture your grief. His other illustration of a type of idolatry of the memory of the person is his allusion to Queen Victoria who wore morning clothes for 40 years after her husband's death.
