The Degradation of the JWST Spectrometer

The spectrometer on board JWST has been encountering some degradation over time recently. What is going on there? I think we still don't have a great sense of what's happening, but basically the one instrument that we use seems to be having some issues with its sensitivity. And so at this point, we just have to kind of give them the chance to try to figure out what's happening. But in this case, it actually allows us to know something completely unrelated to star formation over time.
