The Importance of Recognizing Trauma

Nathan: Trauma creates in us a sense of wanting to make ourselves more safe, but we attach it to a characteristic that has nothing to do with why we were traumatized. Nathan: We need to recognize that individuals act as individuals and we don't tie the actions of an individual or a few people to a large group. "I find myself constantly or consistently pleasantly surprised when somebody acts outside of the stigma that I've clearly given them," he says.
