What's the Difference Between Download and Upload Speed?

For example, I think our internet connection here at our house is 250 megabits. So really, it's approximately 30 something megabytes per second that in an ideal case, we would be getting as a download speed. But actually that's quite different than what you might have thought because if you had a big file that you were downloading, right, and you thought you were downloading at 250 megabytes a second, well, that would be great. If I had to download a gigabyte file, then I'd do it in four seconds. That's traditional in networking technology.
