"What I learned at this latest trans health summit is that denying gender affirming care on the basis of intellectual disability is discrimination," she says. "It's like, to have to evaluate somebody to be mentally competent is discriminating on the based of intellectual disability." 'You can demonstrate even greater faith as a clinician if you like go for it,' one doctor told her. "'I'm just going to believe the patient' ... It's absolutely ableist,'" another said.
