The Seventh Cavalry
The seventh cavalry was only seven years old in 1873 but it had a fine reputation. The regiment was broken up into companies or small battalions and our job was to smash the Ku Klux Klan and run down illicit whiskey distillers. It wasn't much fun for energetic spirited young men.
