The three team double header was a one-year experiment in the 1973 season. The Miami Orioles general manager said fans didn't like it because they had to wait so long for new teams to get warmed up. A computer generated schedule, and this seemed to be the only feasible one, he says. "It was just a far from ideal system in many ways," O'Brien says.
