Fibromyalgia - A Chronic Pain Condition
Fibromyalgia is thought to affect about two to five percent of the population. No test or biomarker can be measured that can definitively diagnose it. It's much more common in women than men and has a significant genetic component. There is no universally agreed-upon treatment although medications like antidepressants to regulate neurotransmitters and anti- seizure medication to reduce pain have been trialled with varying levels of success.
