For a few decades after 19 65, it was possible for at least some people to get the idea that, ok, this issue is settled. That period of forty years or so after 19 65 was really the only time in us. History when there seemed to be a consens about universal voting. Right? It's become much more contentious, much more of a political fight in recent years. But i guess you could take some solace from the fact that when you look at the country's history, who gets to vote, how people vote has always been very political.
What will it take to make the United States a more fully-functioning democracy, and how can we, as citizens, bring about that change?
