What's an Ethics for Developing Decentralized Social Technologies?
Daniel: There's been a lot of controversy over how important are decentralized social technologies. We land on a recommendation for what we call prudent vigilance, which is about experimenting with something and being ready to pivot away from potential mistakes. Glenn: I increasingly believe that many of the legacy systems that Web3 has proposed itself as potential alternative to are simply just not going to be sustainable. And so people are going to have to increasingly rely on these more sophisticated approaches because other forms of digital authentication are going to evaporate.
