The Effect of Video Game Music on Players

Around 1978, these four chords changed everything. Space Invaders started out as a stand up arcade game and it was set in this really, really primitive version of outer space. The longer you keep your spaceship from getting hit by an alien by one of their lasers, the faster the music will get. It's like just those four notes, those four chords, like makes things really, really tense. And does it make you feel nervous? Definitely.
