The History of Glass

Poetry can transport you somewhere very far from where you are. I mean, glass is utterly quotidian for us today. But a few thousand years ago, being surrounded by a desert of sand and then you see glass and it really has this like celestial godly almost property. And you can also just imagine why people were so fascinated by the prospect of alchemy. If you can turn sand into glass, then maybe we can turn lead into gold. The fascination was due to that.
