Is Space Repetition in Schools a Necessity?

I think space repetition in its current form, it couldn't be implemented easily in schools. For a teacher who has very little incentive to do anything but get their kids through the next exam, you know, they're not going to want to spend five years investing their time in this wacky tool just so that they can learn a little bit faster or whatever.
