Hydroponics
Hydroponic means growing plants without soil or with minimal soil. Water circulates around these shaped trays and then cascades back down to a reservoir in the bottom, where it gets pumped back up to the top in a loop. There are two computers now involved: one that doses out the nutrients using paristaltic pumps, and there's a separate one which handles notifying me when the water levels are too low.
