We did a few feasibility POCs before actually committing to do the new project in Rust. And this was in 2019. We were trying to make sure that we were not going to be blindsided. This was very early and a lot of crates were not necessarily super, super stable. So there was a lot of churn in a lot of libraries to become a sync await native.
