His new book, Trump's Australia, canvases what would happen if Donald Trump were to win re-election for another term as U.S. president. Michelle Gratton: Why are American politics so dysfunctional? Bruce W Kaupey: The institutions have grown in dysfunctional ways. It takes a super majority to pass almost anything in the Senate. And that means voters in those states are disenfranchised by the skew of the Senate.
