The Relationship Between Islam and Judaism in Christianity
Mohammed's original ideal was co existence and mutual respect between moslems, jews and other monotheists. But this was strained because of power politics between mecca and medina. For about the first hundred years of the umma rite, it was not considered a seemly to try to pressure christians or jews to become moslem. This only later became policy to encourage conversion. And even then, forced conversion was considered illegitimate. So those are the basic ideas that i want us to be able to understand from this sort of foundational time of islam.
