Introduction

The hotel teresa is located at the intersection of doctor martin luther king junior boulevard and adam clayton powell junior boulevard. The building is 15 blocks north of central park, a short walk from saint john the divine and exactly half a block from the apollo theatre. In 18 88, a six story brick hotel called the hotel winthrop was built at this spot. From there, harlem would become one of the great centres of american ture, a neighborhood identify with african American arts and politics.
