The Latin term mustachio seems only to have really remained in English as the verb. By the late 1800s, you had people like George Eliot and Conan Doyle using mustache just as we do today. But then there's this word mustachio, which significantly is always used to refer to some emphasis on the size or the grooming of the mustache.
