The Food and Drug Administration just gave accelerated approval to the Alzheimer drug Lacanumab. This medication helps remove beta-amyloid plaque from the brain. Researchers have focused on this risk factor almost exclusively over the last several decades. But is it the only way to conceptualize the development of dementia?
