I Love My Country, but My Identity Isn't in America

For many christians, we have boughten into this idea that somehow jesus is wrapped with an american flag. When you begin to idolize your country, a criticism to bring out an area of injustice, becomes a personal attack. My great, great great grandfather fought in the civil war for virginia against the confederacy. Within my blood is patriotism. That was willing to lay down their life for what the American flag stands for - liberty and justice for all. I believe that that is a christian value. It's not the gospel, but it's achristian value. A gospel living is sacrificial. Gospel living is considering the plight of the other.
