How to Write in Third Person

The question with third person then is narrative distance, which is how close is the style to the character? In my case, I like to close the narrative distance close enough that even though I'm using multiple third person points of view, it's a different voice in each case. Third person is not a neutral thing. It can be every bit as individual and nuanced and full of sort of interior narrative detail in the word choice and the syntax and everything as first person can. To me, it's switching from a one third person to another third person is just not a question of changing to another character. It's changing to a whole different way to use language.
