The Importance of Being Nice
The idea that women will be judged harshly for not being nice or agreeable isn't just evident in pop culture. It's a lesson that Chelsea Burpee took in as she was growing up. She'd left her school drama club behind and like so many of her friends, she'd gone to university. At the time what I thought it was to be lovable and to be a nice woman specifically is to never get angry. And later on I ended up being diagnosed with bipolar disorder which is what they used to call manic depression.
