I'm very obsessed with melody because I think melody is one of those things that never really goes out of fashion. You know there's like a seduction in it because you can have repetition but some pop music gets repetitious and the first time you hear it you like it. The art of it really is trying to create a sort of repetition through melody that keeps you hanging on. So when you've got people like learning a McCartney writing these incredible melodies you know exactly where I'm coming from. Yeah I mean it's always felt to me like you have quite a distinctive approach to craft and a melody like in terms of the intervals you choose. That to me sounds kind of quintessentially
