The Musselman in Holocaust Literature
The Musselman, which I think just means Muslim man, is a figure of Holocaust literature and folklore. Presumably Holocaust survivors use the Musselman to contrast themselves with it. Primo Levi was the one who really went into this because he wrote in his autobiography, "I was a Musselman" It's like Paul, I was a Pharisee. This is not exactly analogous, but you're point that nobody says they're a Pharisees.
