When the 2008 crisis happened, the Federal Reserve in some ways had a lot of freedom to intervene. The legislation has been changed and the Fed's hands have been tied about how much it can step into financial institutions. Jillian: One of the things I would add to the to-do list is to basically give the FDIC the power if it feels like it to extend insurance for a period of time in a blanket manner.
