Some people use the power that they acquire, monetary, muscular, intellectual, social in corrupt ways. The possession of power for those individuals elevates them and does not corrupt them. Power is the capacity, but how the capacity is exercised depends on the user. I think this contains a clear illustration of how the difference matters.
