CHAPTER

Aristotle's Methods of Observing Animals

Aristotle established a series of methods of doing things. Often he'll start by observing one particular animal, but then he'll infer that this same will apply to other animals as well. One of a good example of this is when he takes apart hen eggs. He sees the development of the embryo chick. This is in the Historia Animalium. And he even talks about the umbilical cord and says it works like this in the egg, but it's exactly the same in a line. Anything like that, that you know about? Not recorded anyway.
