We Could Not Run Without Our Butts
Gorillas and chimpanzees can walk bipedally for short periods of time. But they're not doing it to the extent that humans are. The muscle making up the butt is the gluteus maximus. It plays a key role in controlling the trunk, your torso, and extending your leg when you're swinging it in front of you. So we could not run if we didn't have big butts.
