How to Get Back to Your Homocysteine Level

MTHFR mutations do not cause macrocytic megaloblastic anemia. The risk with MTHFR is that your methionine would run low because you're not recycling homocysteine as effectively. You can look at plasma and serum folate. They will be lower in someone with MTHfr, particularly if you're not nutritionally compensating for it correctly. In folate deficiency, you see elevated mean corpuscular volume or MCV on your complete blood count.
