Lincoln's Debates With Senator Stephen Douglas

Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 on a sinking spring farm near Hodgenville, Kentucky. He and his family moved to another farm around nearby Knob Creek in 1811. His mother dies of milk sickness when he is just nine years old; she leaves him with her widowed step-daughter Sarah Bush Johnston. The future great emancipator bonds with his new stepmother who isn't educated but still values schooling. We'll head back to the engine house at Harper's Ferry where we meet John Brown for first time.
