Prosperity Theology
In 2006, a poll from the Times found that 17% of American Christians identify explicitly as part of prosperity theology. A full 61% agree with the more general idea that God wants people to be prosperous. However, mainstream evangelicals consider this prosperity theology to be a heresy in a way and something not of the true faith.
