The Relationship Between Emotion and Memory

The brain is set up to make sure that's something that elicits a very strong emotional response. Just take for example, smell. If you smell the smell of your first girlfriend, it will take you right back to that time with your first girlfriend. And so just the emotional component of that memory is there because of the emotional component. But the emotion is what makes that memory really, really a solid, robust memory.
