Spark Therapeutics is a gene therapy startup based in Palo Alto, California. The company does its own manufacturing and has been able to parallel prosecute multiple different development programs without having to do this sequentially. Spark's CEO says it was a gamble to start the company with just five or six employees but they're now at a point where they can run their machine very efficiently.
