The Myth of Jesus Never Claiming Divinity

In John 858 Jesus says before Abraham was I am, he doesn't say I am something else. That's significant because in Exodus chapter 3 Moses is being told by God to go to the Israelites and tell them that they're going to be set free. And so if Jesus says I am and is referring to himself he seems to be claiming the name of God from the book of the oldFrom the name of Yahweh in the Old Testament. But Erman also says this claim is not historical because he says it is only found in the gospel of John.
