Russia has also secured the supply of weapons from its allies Iran, North Korea and Belarus. This means that although Russian military efforts may not be sophisticated they can at least be sustained. Much of Russia's military ambition hinges on the presence of the Wagner Group which operates a network of mercenaries. But how central is its role to the goals of Putin and the Kremlin?
