Longevity experts say you can't eat carbohydrates because that will increase insulin and trigger mTOR. But a study using human myotubes shows there is a statistically significant difference with insulin being a stronger activator of mTOR at 30 minutes, about equivalent at 2 hours and at 24 hours. Layman: I think activating mTOR by doing resistance exercise or surfing or sprinting is a very good thing. Many of the health benefits of exercise for all of those conditions are mediated in mTOR.
