The Pros and Cons of Artificial Intelligence
The author's introduction to AI came in the 1980s. Patrick Henry Winston was like the, he was the AI guy. He wrote a program called Eliza that would respond to what you were saying and say something encouraging back. The paper does an incredible job of doing it so I highly recommend it.
