The ATO's Look at Cryptocurrencies
The ATO is taking a much closer look at those making investments into crypto currencies like Bitcoin. It believes that some of them are failing to declare their profits. The taxman will be collecting bulk records from Australian cryptocurrency designated service providers or DSPs as part of a data matching program. There are between half a million and one million Australians who have invested incrypto assets, the ATO estimates.
