How Do You Change the Social Processes of Science?

It started with some simple ideas and turned out to be about something completely different. How do you change and update the social processes of science? I didn't think of them in that way at the time. In this particular case, it was revisiting something from a long time ago. One pattern I really like actually is, maybe this is just an excuse for self-indulgence but I do tend to find that most people have various guilty pleasures which ultimately end up becoming their creative projects.
